Phonetics Circle
PHONETICS CIRCLE
This is a forum for students and faculty interested in phonetics and phonology; any aspect of them! We gather every other week to enjoy our community and some coffee together. In our meetings, we discuss our research interests and projects, give feedback to each other, brainstorm together, and prepare for conferences and job interviews. We also invite guests for research presentations, hold workshops, and organize and implement outreach activities.
On weeks with no Phonetics Circle meetings, SPArK & Friends get together to report progress on research and help each other move forward. Sometimes we do that by surrounding ourselves with art and/or nature.

OUTREACH
An important goal of our group is to promote outreach activities in order to engage our local community with a wide breadth of linguistic knowledge and its applications, and to raise awareness of (linguistic) diversity. For this reason, since 2019 we have been contributing a large variety of linguistic booths to Science Fairs taking place at elementary schools of the greater Santa Barbara area.
